Empowering Student Voices: UUSU Course Representative and Student Council Elections

Every year, the University of Ulster Students' Union (UUSU) elections offer an invaluable opportunity for students to step up and make their voices heard. The current elections for Course Representatives and Student Councillors are no different, providing students with a chance to represent their peers and influence change across the university. I've seen first-hand how dedicated student leaders can advocate for better resources, inclusive policies, and enhanced support services that benefit the wider student body.

Why You Should Vote

Casting your vote in the UUSU elections is one of the most effective ways to ensure your voice is heard and to influence decisions that will affect your time at university. By electing the right representatives, you help shape the future of your course, campus, and overall student life. Every vote counts in empowering students who are committed to improving the experience for their peers—whether through addressing course-specific issues or advocating for campus-wide initiatives. Voting opens on Monday 14th October, and closes on Tuesday 15th October.

As a student at the Magee campus, I was curious to explore the unique offerings of another campus within our university and see how they compare.  First Impressions Coleraine is very different from Magee. I was immediately struck by the beautiful surroundings. The campus itself is nestled just outside of Coleraine city centre, so you're kind of out of the way from everything, but the facilities on campus definitely make up for that. What is the UUSU Leadership Elections? UUSU is one of the largest membership organisations in Northern Ireland supporting over 26,000 student members. Operating as a charity, UUSU represents, supports and connects its members through a range of services, activities, and pledges, and is the voice of students at Ulster University.
